Morgan Equine's
Cross Country Schooling Course

Picture
The schooling course is still open!
The cost is $25 per horse.
This course is suitable for schooling beginner novice and novice event horses.
There is a 10 acre cross country field with logs and permanent jumps, ditches, water and bank complexes, and about a mile of beautifully groomed wooded paths.
Our Olympic sized Dressage court has impeccably groomed sand footing.

Text your name, day & time preference
one day prior to schooling

Dallas 607-592-4220

We offer schooling (weather permitting) as group schooling days or on an individual/private basis.  Instructors are welcome to bring students.

For private schooling, Dallas prefers a text  prior to the date you would like to come. 607-592-4220. Let him know which day and approximately what time you would like to come. The course can be open ANY day and time the weather permits during the summer and fall. He will return your text to let you know if that date is available. The evening before the schooling date, send him another text to confirm that the weather has cooperated and the course is in good condition to school. If it's questionable, he will text you early in the morning of the schooling date.

You may arrive at Morgan Equine in time to be on course at 8 am if you wish to utilize early mornings for hot days. Please plan on wrapping up any afternoon session by about 5:30 pm on the course. You are welcome to use the amenities until 7 pm each day.  Please park in the UPPER parking lot designated for cross country course trailer parking. Enter the main driveway, continue right. Follow the small hill up to a parking lot. There is typically room for 4 or 5 horse trailers at one time.  We recommend parking so you are facing "out" and leaving room for another trailer. There is a separate exit driveway at the far end of the lot.  Long trailers should exit the way they came in.

Are you a current Morgan Equine client*?
You get to use the dressage court and course for FREE on the days of your appointments that weather and footing permit.  Riding before an appointment is usually best.

*A Morgan Equine client is someone who, in the CURRENT calendar year, primarily uses the services of either Dallas or Jessica Morgan or has spent $500 in product purchases at Morgan Equine. No exceptions.
The Dressage Court, Cross Country Course and Stadium area will be open unless otherwise stated. Areas unsuitable for use will be clearly blocked off on course. If you have not already signed a consent form, please do so before riding. The consent form is located in a packet in the mailbox in the upper lot under the sign (pictured here). One signature covers the entire year. Sign again each year. Cash or Check made out to Morgan Equine is acceptable and can be left in the mailbox under the sign.
For the most part schooling is self service unless you have questions or need help. If that's the case, be sure to find us. We are around and will help in any way we can.
Enjoy the day and have a great ride!

Schooling Requirements, Information and Policy

1. Appropriate  Attire: Safety helmet, boots and a regulation vest is strongly recommended. You ride at your own risk.
2. USEA medical arm band or medical bracelet highly recommended, especially if you have specific medical needs or conditions.
Picture
3. Ground person for riders under 18 required. Highly suggested for adults. Cell phones are useful in the event of an emergency. If in doubt, call 911.
4. Must sign Consent Form available in mailbox of the upper parking lot
5. No Dogs on the property. Certainly not on course.
6. There is water in the large poly tank in the upper parking lot for you to rinse off your horse and fill your water buckets.
7. You may use the restroom in the hospital anytime. Just like gates, close doors that were closed.
8. Please help us keep the dressage court footing in fabulous condition. Although it looks effortless, that does not happen by accident.  Do not allow horses to urinate in the arena. Please pick up manure both in the court and both jump fields right away. Keeping manure picked up reduces the fly population. Everyone wants that. There are forks and buckets for this use in all major areas. Please don't use the buckets as mounting blocks. There are plenty of big rocks and jumps around for that.
9. Be sure your horses feet have been cleaned out at your trailer. Urine, manure and rocks destroy the surface in the dressage court we have worked so hard to achieve.
9. Please do not allow your horse to graze on the flower pots or gardens. It makes our master gardener breathe rapidly.
10. If you see an area of the course that needs repair, please bring it to our attention for the safety of all horses and riders.
11. Park in the upper lot. Leave the front of the hospital driveway open as often as possible.
12. Lunging over obstacles is limited to 5 circles as consistently repeated tracks are difficult to repair.
