Jessica Morgan DVM, a Kansas State University CVM graduate, is a private Equine Practitioner focused on lameness diagnostics; particularly musculoskeletal ultrasound and increasingly MRI.
At 13 she was trimming her own ponies. Horseshoeing school in 1991 was a logical step for an equine practitioner in the making. In 1997 an internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery at a private equine practice led her to Southern California. She remained in California, operating a solo equine ambulatory equine practice for six years. In 2003 Dallas and Jessica built Morgan Equine Veterinary & Farrier Hospital in the finger lakes region of New York.
Her professional veterinary continuing education efforts have led to completing specialty veterinary acupuncture, chiropractic and dentistry courses, all of which have contributed to proficiency in evaluating and treating the whole horse. Dr. Morgan is an ISELP certified member in Equine Locomotor Pathology.
Jessica is a life long multi-discipline equestrian competitor. Currently, she enjoys the mental challenge of USDF shows and the athletic complexity of USEA horse trials. She has a talented and opinionated Westphalian mare who is moving through the levels nicely in both organizations.

Dallas W. Morgan CJF
I am a native Australian with a typical horse family upbringing. My mother owned Saddle Shops and my father was a Saddle Maker. I was an active member and captain of the Pony Club in Warwick, Queensland. At fifteen, I went to work as a ringer, riding and shoeing horses on large cattle stations. There I discovered I really liked shoeing horses and was determined to pursue Farriery as a Trade.
In 1989 I ventured to the United States to attend the formal horseshoeing program at Oklahoma Horseshoeing School. It was there, that I met my wife of 24 years, Jessica Morgan, DVM. In 1993 I was the attending Farrier at Kansas State University. For six years I worked extensively with hospitalized therapeutic cases as well as maintained a remedial horseshoeing business.
1n 1997 I competed in Horseshoeing Competitions in England. I qualified for and placed in the top 10 at the royal show and was National Champion Striker. Upon returning to the USA, we moved to southern California where I primarily shod jumpers and dressage horses. As a member of the American Farriers Team in 2000, I competed extensively through-out the US, Canada and England with the Team.
In 2002, we built an Equine Veterinary and Farrier Hospital in the finger lakes region of Upstate New York. The primary focus of the hospital is lameness diagnostics and therapeutic treatments. The majority of horses in my business at this time are show hunters, jumpers, dressage horses, eventers and some western horses. I see therapeutic cases in the hospital and travel to private stables to shoe horses.
I have given Farrier topic clinics in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, England, India, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United States. Professional speaking highlights for me were being Keynote Speaker for the American Farriers Convention, Western Canadian Farriers Annual Convention and the Quebec Farriers Convention. In 2012 Jessica and I traveled extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand lecturing together at TAFE Colleges and Universities.
I am an American Farriers Association Certified Tester and Pre-Certification Clinician. As a Delta-Mustad sponsored clinician and consultant and I have enjoyed giving hands-on demonstrations and lectures.
Farrier topics I enjoy
Asymmetrical shoeing techniques that support bone and soft tissue pathology in sport horses
How to utilize ground force reaction to positively affect a horse’s performance
Effective keg shoe modifications that will assist bone and soft tissue pathologies
Strategies that will improve veterinary farrier relationships
Forging techniques for competitors
Efficiency in every day shoe making including tool maintenance
Conversations regarding our industry, the philosophy of educating and including Farriers of all skill levels for the betterment and welfare of the horse.
My forging and horseshoeing philosophies have been modeled and molded by some of the world’s greatest Farriers who are my mentors, colleagues and friends. Bob Marshall (Can), Billy Crothers (UK) and Burney Chapman (TX) have had a profound impact on my career . The teachings and concepts developed by Jean-Marie Denoix have formed a significant science base to my daily farriery practice.
In an effort to get back to competitive shoe making after a 7 year hiatus, I won the World Championship Blacksmiths (WCB) Overall High Point and Open Division Winner at Flagstaff AZ in June 2008.
Currently, I am enjoying riding and competing in horse trials with Jessica and our horses. It seems that I have taken up cross country jump and course building as a new hobby. We have developed a training level event schooling course on our property. Certainly being involved as a competitor in horse sport has given me a different prospective and greater insight for shoeing high performance horses.

Jessica Morgan DVM
I was born into an active animal loving family in central Minnesota. I showed horses and dogs in both 4-H and open arenas. As a member of the Minnesota High School Rodeo Association for 4 years, I competed in Team Roping (header), Break-a-way Roping, Goat Tying, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending and Cutting. I was the MN High School Rodeo Queen. During my junior and senior year of high school, I was admitted to a post secondary program, where I attended St. Cloud State University full time. I had determined at a very young age that I was going to be an Equine Veterinarian.
I had been trimming my own ponies since I was 13, so it was natural decision to attend Horseshoeing school. For me; it was an essential and logical step in the education of an equine practitioner. It was there I met my husband of 24 years, Dallas Morgan, CJF. We have no children, except a two horses and a spoiled rotten Jack Russel Terrier.
I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Industry at Kansas State University. True to form I was the KSU women’s Rodeo team captain, a scholarship Goat Tyer and Miss Rodeo K-State. I graduated from Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. An internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery at a private equine practice led me to Southern California. There I accumulated a Dressage horse and a completely new style of riding. I remained in California, operating a very successful solo equine ambulatory practice for six years. During that time I completed advanced acupuncture, equine chiropractic and dentistry courses.
Needing a change of pace and a peaceful place to call home, Dallas and I built Morgan Equine Veterinary and Farrier Hospital in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. My current practice is focused on performance horse lameness diagnostics and therapeutics. I have developed a systematic approach to keeping them fit, sound and competing happily. Correct diagnosis and logical treatments are my primary goal. I am a dedicated fan of diagnostic imaging. I get excited about ultrasounding horses! I am incredibly proud of the horses that I treat who go on to compete to the best of their ability whether it's the local show arena or at an international level.
I achieved advanced imaging skills by qualifying, sitting and passing the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology examination under the guidance of Jean-Marie Denoix. I was the first woman in the world to achieve certification in Locomotor Pathology. It is an honor and privilege to be a student of Dr. Denoix's.
Dallas and I have prepared original material that translates complex veterinary information into information that can be used in everyday work for Farriers. We have presented as Keynote Speakers at the American Farriers Convention, the Western Canadian Farriers Annual Convention, the Quebec Farriers Convention and many US based Professional Farrier Associations. In September 2012 we traveled for three weeks to TAFE Colleges and Universities throughout Australia and New Zealand lecturing for Mustad Australia.
I can easily say that helping Farriers understand anatomy, diagnostic imaging and how it applies to them helps bridge the gap between Farriers and Veterinarians. In the end, it results in unparalleled service and commitment to the horse and a great sense of satisfaction for me.
The topics of my lectures are:
Anatomical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Review of the Front Limb for Farriers
Anatomical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Review of the Hind Limb for Farriers
Current Equine Diagnostics, Therapies & Farriery for Horse Owners
My hobbies include competing as an amateur eventer who takes dressage seriously, gardening and travel. I have a talented and opinionated Westphalen mare who is working up the levels nicely. I spend summer evenings gardening on a mass scale. In December Dallas and I load up the horses and head to Ocala for a few months. We have been on several wonderful world traveling experiences, visiting Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, England, Fiji, Honduras, India, New Zealand, Mexico and many islands of the Caribbean.
Denoix's.
