Featured
Program:
This is not your ordinary TALK! We have four individual rooms
set up with hands on activities, specimens and prepared lecture with handouts
given by qualified discussion leaders. The topics are Parasitology, Gastro
Intestinal Tract, Lower Limb Anatomy and Dentistry. We have prepared the
rooms to be ready for any knowledge level. From beginner to Veterinary
School! Each hour, groups of 5-10 people rotate through the rooms.
There
is a lunch break and two 10 minute intermissions. Groups have traditionally
brought brown bag lunches or dishes to pass. Lunch is the responsibility
of the attending group. The program is approximately 5 ½ hours
long.
Program
Topics Defined:
- Parasitology:
See the worms, live the life cycle, know the treatment.
- Lower
Limb Anatomy: All those tendons, ligaments and bones, its hands on that
brings anatomy to life.
- Gastro
Intestinal Tract: From lips to tail, take a tour! Colic presentations
defined.
- Dentistry:
The gift horse, do you know how old he is? Skull and models of dental
progression in the horse. Take the mystery out of aging horses’
teeth.
- Think
your KIDS got all that already? Those that are ready to take a written
and oral examination to pass the above subjects will be offered an advanced
session.
Q:
Can our KIDS sign up if they aren't Pony Club or 4-H members or do we
have to sign up as a group?
A: The two days were specifically reserved for pony club and 4-H members.
If you are not a member of those two groups, you can still join in on
the fun!
Here’s
How:
1. If you
have a group of at least 15 people, you can reserve your very own day,
I need to confirm dates by Jan 09, 2008. Please call 607-898-9777 to discuss
scheduling.
or
2. If you
just have a few kids, email their names with a single contact phone number
and I can put them on our waiting list. If, for some reason the pony club
and 4-H members don't fill by Jan 09, 2008 you will get an invitation
to attend. We may get enough names to fill a separate clinic and would
be happy to create a clinic just for those people on the wait list!
or
3. As you
are visiting our website, you can find out about our other educational
opportunities we have this winter. We have an adult program on March 15,
2008 focused on lameness issues. Everyone is welcome to attend that session.
There is not a pre-registration requirement, however if you are planning
on attending, send a short email to vet@morganequine.com listing participants
names with a phone number would be greatly appreciated.

Veterinary
Externships
If you are interested in becoming a Veterinary Extern, please call the
office and chat with Dr. Morgan. Most students work at the hospital on
a daily basis during the summer and continue their research projects while
school is in session. Presentation of the research project culminates
during the winter education clinics. The opportunity to make connections
with other hospitals and Veterinarians is extraordinary. You must be a
“self-starter” and be willing to show us your work ethic.
You will only be limited by you at Morgan Equine.
